West Northamptonshire

Hello, I am the Oral Health Improvement Manager for West Northamptonshire.

I support the delivery of the Let’s Brush programme in this area.
Let’s Brush supports targeted early years settings, schools and special schools with daily toothbrushing on site, which is an evidence-based oral health intervention with lots of benefits:

  • Improved brushing technique
  • More confidence with brushing at home
  • An additional opportunity for children to brush their teeth each day
  • Reinforcement of good oral health habits
  • It’s a fun shared activity that children can enjoy!

Full training and equipment is provided to participating settings, as well as ongoing support.

Oral health training
Oral health training is available to professionals and volunteers working with children, families, vulnerable adults and older people across West Northamptonshire. This includes colleagues working in health and social care, early years, education and community services.

Our training:
• Is free of charge
• Can be adapted to suit different roles and settings
• Includes the fundamentals of good oral health, including oral care, diet and accessing dental services
• Can be delivered in a variety of ways to suit the needs of different services

Adult social care support
We also provide support to adult social care services. Alongside training, we can support services with practical oral health guidance, resources and policies, and help organisations develop Oral Health Champions to promote good oral health within their setting.

Oral health support and accreditation
We work with early years, schools and adult care settings to help embed good oral health into everyday practice.

This can include support with oral health policies, resources and staff development, alongside opportunities to work towards oral health accreditation. Further information about accreditation opportunities will be shared as these are developed.

Promoting national campaign messages around oral health is key to our work, too. See how and when we do this here.
